abstract = "This research book aims to describe the contributions and limitations of hypnosis as an adjuvant technique in the treatment of pain, based on techniques that can be used in emergency services, hospital care, and primary care. The book gathers result of more than twenty years of research and experiences of professionals who have provided care to individuals with chronic pain problems and diseases. While the use of hypnosis is controversial because of its association with esotericism and other unscientific practices, taking the approach of health psychology and evidence-based medicine as a starting point helps to overcome the “war between schools”, since the contributions made by different theories to therapeutic practice, are taken into account. In this integration attempt, a promising future can be envisaged so that psychological resources are used daily in hypnosis techniques to enhance pain relief and human well-being.",
